According to Electronic Arts, Battlefield 6 will not be releasing this year. The release date of Battlefield 6 is still unknown but it will come out between April 2021 and March 2022. The sequel to Battlefield 5 will be available on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The report that was released by Electronic Arts recently, was accompanied by a press conference. They stated that Battlefield 6 will not be released in the fiscal year 2021. This fiscal year range from April 2020 to March 2021. However, we can expect Battlefield 6 to release in Fall 2021. EA finance Director, Blake Jorgensen said:
We expect growth to accelerate in fiscal 2022 as we leverage the growing base of the next-generation consoles with the launch of a new Battlefield.
It makes sense that Electronic Arts is launching Battlefield 6 on the next-gen consoles given its release schedule. Andrew Wilson from Electronic Arts confirmed this by stating:
New consoles are coming, and we’ll be ready to lead with some of our top titles.
Blake Jorgensen praised the hardware of the next-generation consoles. According to him, the new consoles will completely blow away the previous ones. The financial director of EA assured fans that they can expect some mind-blowing things from their upcoming titles.
Although we don’t exactly know the release date of Battlefield 6, it could even make its way as late as 2022. The Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises have had a long rivalry. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a hit for Activision. However, Battlefield 5 hasn’t had the same amount of success.
It has been almost two years since the release of Battlefield 5 and Electronic Arts has not had a title to complete with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The first-person shooter genre is being dominated by Modern Warfare at the moment. Its single-player campaign received praise and critical acclaim.
The era of the single-player game is supposedly over but games like God of War (2018) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare don’t indicate that. Fans of the Battlefield franchise are hoping that Activision marks its return to form with Battlefield 6.
