SEGA has officially launched the Sonic 2020 project which aims to deliver various information on various Sonic plans. The project has its own portal on SEGA’s website and will publish news on the 20th of every month.
SEGA wants the fans to ‘watch out for Sonic the Hedgehog’ as the Sonic 2020 project gives out new details. The plan is set to gain momentum for Sonic’s 30th anniversary next year. This gives us an indication that SEGA might be planning something big for the hedgehog’s 30th birthday.
SEGA is commemorating the Sonic 2020 project. It has posted a Twitter background, PC desktop, and smartphone wallpapers on the portal. The artworks released show Sonic grabs the golden ring in mid-air. Furthermore, fan art for Sonic will be recruited and will be posted as wallpapers and calendars.
SEGA also revealed all 21 types of Twitter icons inspired by the Sonic 2020 project. The icons show the popular character of the series; Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Doctor Eggman, Knuckles the Echidna, Shadow the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, Big the Cat, Blaze the Cat, and others. The icons list also has a green emerald.
The Sonic 2020 platform is a great way to keep the fans informed of the Sonic. Recently, no major Sonic game has been released since Sonic Forces. The new portal could give us new details about upcoming Sonic titles. New music demos related to Sonic Adventures were leaked online, so we could probably see a new Sonic Adventure title. Nevertheless, there has been no official statement about a new Sonic game.
Sonic the Hedgehog movie is releasing next month, which provides Sonic a lot of fame. With the help of the new portal, SEGA might use this fame to catch more audience towards Sonic video games with a timely release.
