CD Projekt Red never planned to launch Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer with the main game. But now, it will not be available till 2022. CD Projekt Red held a conference call for its investors. During the conference, the inverstors were allowed to ask questions about the recent delay of the game’s launch. Upon being asked about Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer, Michał Nowakowsk said:
“Given the expected release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September, and frankly speaking of the series of events we expect to occur after that date, 2021 appears unlikely as a release date for the Cyberpunk multiplayer.”
Cyberpunk is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2020. CD Projekt has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 since 2013. It is hard to guess when Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer could launch, as the main game just got delayed.

Investors also asked about the game being postponed, to which the team responded:
“The team wants to be sure in what they deliver, and would not like to rush”. “…The game is taking time as it is fairly complex, and less glitches.
CD Projekt Red is aware of the high expectations of the gamers. That is why the team wants to ‘polish’ the game. According to them, the game is ready to play, with some minor glitches. Its demo was available at Gamescom 2019.
The multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 is quite ambitious. CD Projekt Red apparently is planning it like GTA Online or RDR2 online. It would be a game in itself. And if they are saying that may take an extra year, it definitely means that the multiplayer is not ordinary and may have story of its own.
For now, we are looking forward to the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September. It will only increase the hype of Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer. And we have to be patient about all of it.
