Rockstar Games is definitely working on a few next-generation projects. Grand Theft Auto 6 is pretty much confirmed at this point. Bully 2 is another game that may be in the pipelines. There could be more. The only question is when those projects are going to be officially announced?
If a job listing (via RockstarIntel) is anything to go by, Rockstar Games may perhaps be planning to do a reveal soon. The developer/publisher is seeing a new video editor who, among other responsibilities, “must be able to communicate the emotional content and excitement of a game within a 60 second format”. In other words, the candidate will have to create reveal and/or teaser trailers for Rockstar Games.
Those fairly optimistic believe that Rockstar Games is merely getting ready for E3 2020. The notion has substance. The developer could take the show with a small reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6. That being said, when accounting for how the selected video editor must convey emotional content, all signs certainly point at Bully 2. The chaotic world of Grand Theft Auto doesn’t seem to have that much of an emotional value compared to the school setting of Bully.
Unfortunately, all of this is just assumption. Rockstar Games is known for taking its sweet time. We may as well neither see nor hear anything from the Red Dead Redemption 2 developer throughout the year. Still, the job listing gives a fleeting sense of hope that the time is finally here to know what the famed studio has been creating behind closed doors. Suffice to say, Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be something monstrous for next-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Speaking of which, a leak from a year back did claim that Rockstar Games will be releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 during the holiday season of 2020. Interestingly, the same source claimed that Sony has struck a deal to keep the game exclusive to PlayStation 5 for an entire month. No one cared for the leak except when Sony started sharing PlayStation 5 details that the same source had confirmed months before.
