New Music Demos Might Point To New Sonic Adventure Game

A new Sonic Adventure game might be in the making after various music demos appeared on the internet, 22 years after the games originally came out. The news comes after months of various hints and hopes from the fanbase that either an entirely new game, or remakes, would be coming out soon.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 are a pair of Sonic the Hedgehog games that once again put players in the role of Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends in yet another plot to defeat Dr. Robotnik before he can release an ancient threat known simply as Chaos.

Along with playing the eponymous hedgehog, players also could take various story routes starring other characters. These various routes included Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna, and even Big the Cat. Another hallmark of the series was its music.

That music in this case was leaked online, and features what appears to be a redone version of a song from the original Sonic Adventure game, called “Open Your Heart” from Eizo Sakamoto. There have also been a few other hints over the past few months about it.

Takahashi Iizuka, the head of Sonic Team, has previously gone on record saying that he would like to remake the games, and Sega had also re-hired the original designer for the game’s Adventure Field area sometime last year. In the past few weeks Sega had also released a new Sonic animated short about Chaos in Space, a fake film that had previously been on a billboard in Sonic Adventure.

While there’s no actual guarantee that a new Sonic Adventure game is currently under development, and there’s always the possibility that audio like this could be fake, it would be interesting to see how Sonic Team can improve on a previous game.

Of course, considering how Sonic games like Sonic Forces have been received for the past few years, who knows if a remake of Sonic Adventure would even be good.
