While everyone was busy in celebrating the new year, the Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum and will be making his way to Mortal Kombat 11 fairly soon.
The clown prince of crime was confirmed last year to be part of the Kombat Pack and will follow Sindel, the Terminator, Nightwolf, and Shang Tsung. Take note that NetherRealm Studios has already pegged a release date of January 28 for the Joker. Hence, even though a teaser has arrived today, except the new fighter to join the playable roster of Mortal Kombat 11 by the end of the month.

The arrival of the Joker carries much significance. The character did make his debut in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe back in 2008 but a legal contract prevented NetherRealm Studios from indulging in gore, something the franchise has always been about. With Mortal Kombat 11, the developer is assumed to have regained full freedom over the character. Hence, the Joker will have fatalities in the new installment, and fans are probably eager to know how Batman’s greatest adversary will be finishing off his opponents.
Once the Joker has been released, all eyes will turn to the last remaining fighter in the Kombat Pack — Spawn, voiced by Keith David himself. The character is probably the most hyped one from the lot and is slated to swoop into Mortal Kombat 11 on March 17.
The franchise’s creative director Ed Boon has for long shown interest in doing crossovers with other universes. This includes the iconic Street Fighter franchise as well. According to Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono, NetherRealm Studios did make contact to have a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat. However, the proposition was rejected by the higher-ups.
Mortal Kombat 11, one of the best selling games of 2019, is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.
