Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of recent years. That is why we consider that many of our readers will be interested to know that they have already entered the final phase of development. So, it seems that everything is going well to be released in April as planned.
In a recent video in which CD Projekt reported its income and expenditures to investors, the studio revealed that it has invested a lot of money in Cyberpunk 2077. This is because the project is in its final phase of development, which the studio says is the most intense before the premiere of the game.
In Q3 2019 the bulk of the Group’s consolidated fixed assets was represented by Expenditures on development projects, which aggregate the Group’s ongoing expenses on development of new videogames and technologies. The reported increase in this line item comes mainly from development of Cyberpunk 2077, which has now entered its final, most intensive pre-release stage.
As you can see, the coming months will be very intense for CD Projekt RED, since they will have to adjust all the details to ensure that Cyberpunk 2077 is ready for April and is a game that meets the expectations of fans. We hope that everything goes well at this stage of development.
In other news, something that increased the expectation for the title is the subsequent inclusion of an online multiplayer mode and microtransactions. Although we do not know much about it, there are already some details about these 2 components and recently more information came to light.
In the last financial report of CD Projekt RED (via Wccftech), Piotr Nielubowicz, financial director of the company, took the opportunity to talk about the multiplayer section in Cyberpunk 2077.
What’s visible on the balance sheet comes mostly from Cyberpunk – single-player and multiplayer, the latter being a smaller project that’s just starting. We also have some other things in early development, but as I said, the vast majority of expenses is related to the Cyberpunk universe.
Also, the general director of CD Projekt RED, Adam Kiciński, when questioned about the monetization model that the game will have, mentioned that it is his first multiplayer title and that it is at an early stage, so they are not prepared to reveal more details on how it will work; however, he expects it to offer content that is worth the money of the users.
As far as the monetization of multiplayer for Cyberpunk is concerned, we believe right now it’s definitely too early to share any details on that or give guidance; the project is in a relatively early stage. We keep experimenting – that’s our first multiplayer game. We check various options and possibilities, and it’s definitely not the time to point you to a specific direction on that. Of course you can expect that we won’t change our general policy towards “deals with gamers” so I expect wise monetization and – always – value for money.
I remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will premiere on April 16, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google STADIA.
