There are some unique and weird ways to get and evolve Pokemon in the Pokemon Sword and Shield and you will not find an exception with Inkay. There are some unorthodox methods to evolve Inkay to Malamar and it is something you might have seen before.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Inkay Locations
Obviously, you need to own an Inkay before you can evolve it. Where to find Inkay though? There are some certain places in Pokemon Sword and Shield where you can find Inkay and catch it. There are some random encounters you will get with them if you are lucky enough and there are some visible encounters as well.
You can find Inkay at Hammerlock Hills, Bridge Field or Route 9 on the map if you get a random encounter, but if it is an invisible encounter then you might find it at Dusty Bowl, Bridge Field or Route 7.
Stats
- It is a Dark and Psychic type of Pokemon.
- It has this ability called Contrary. It can make stats changes have an opposite effect.
- It also has the ability called Suction Cups, which can negate all moves that forces switching out.

You will be able to evolve Pokemon Sword and Shield Inkay to Malamar after Inkay has achieved the level 30.
Evolve Inkay to Malamar
Inkay will evolve when it is close to Level 30 and for that you will have to turn your console upside down in handheld mode just before Level 30. First, you need to be sure that your Gyroscope Switch option is turned on and is also working fine.
You need to make sure your Inkay is close to level 30 and when you get in a fight against any pokemon and after you win do not exit the post-battle quickly but carefully turn your console upside down counter-clockwise and after that press A to exit the dialogue, and keep it that way until the evolving animation is over.

- It has the same abilities as Inkay but stats are higher overall.
- It is dark and psychic type as you know.
