The closing of this year is very important for Star Wars because just as fans of the franchise await the premiere of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker in December, those who also like video games are impatient for the debut of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Well, the hype is such that it will also reach Star Wars Battlefront II as they revealed it that the title will receive special content.
Through a publication on his official Twitter account, Ben Walke, community manager of Star Wars Battlefront II announced that next December the game will receive special content inspired by the movie Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, which will premiere on the 20th of same month.
Although a specific date for the release of this content was not revealed, it is expected to arrive the days before the premiere of the film to take advantage of the expectation that there will be around the franchise at that time.
Walke also said that the December update for Star Wars Battlefront II will not be limited to what has to do with the new movie because it will also include the content scheduled for this month that had to be delayed. In that sense, the CM said that nothing was removed, so fans will receive the update as planned.
We’ve also got some news regarding our content updates. Nov update now arrives first week of Dec. A second update in Dec will follow. No cut content, just dates moving. Dec will be a celebration month for us, headlined by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker content.
In other news, one of the most popular scandals in the video game industry in recent years had to do with Star Wars Battlefront II and its microtransaction system, a situation that eventually overshadowed the title itself. Despite this, the DICE team has remained committed to the project and after the storm the changes arrived, as well as the additional content.
However, the time that this post-launch period has taken suggests that there are no concrete plans for a third installment and recently a studio creative talked about it. During an interview with PCGamesN, Dennis Brännvall, design director of Star Wars Battlefront II talked about the possibilities of a hypothetical third installment.
In that sense, the creative pointed out some changes that have occurred regarding the development process in EA and in DICE, which suggest the level of interest in the project.
The consequences remain viable because, otherwise, they wouldn’t do it, but there’s not the same need as before to do it. We were so used to the development chain where we made a sequel, then a season pass thought for a year and then we went on to the next game. I think the industry has changed that, we made the game, signed for 4 DLC and that was it, so you focused on gaining value for the players and if there was a system that didn’t work, you put a pin on that and thought about fixing it in the sequel.
Subsequently, Dennis Brännvall said that at the moment the interest of the DICE team in charge of Star Wars is to continue supporting the most recent delivery, so for now a third edition is not seen on the horizon in the near future. I remind you that Star Wars Battlefront II is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
