Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is undeniably one of the most ambitious titles in the franchise we’ve seen so far. Shifting the multiplayer focus to a narrative-driven experience, Respawn Entertainment has made sure that they have all the right influences to succeed. Other than Dark Souls which influences its gameplay, the game will have the quality and design of God of War.
Speaking with Squire Magazine, Stig Asmussen, creative head for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order talked about his previous work on the God of War franchise as well as the influence he could carry to his new project. He said:
I worked on God of War 1 through God of War 3, and obviously that made an influence on me, not only on a design standpoint, but from a production and “how you make games” approach—the standard for where your bar is, what kind of quality, that kind of thing. But, to be honest with you, I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say Star Wars influenced the work that I did on God of War games and other games that I’ve worked on. So, it’s funny that it goes full circle.
Strong words coming from a man of his caliber. It’s not easy to say that a game will be influenced by one of the best franchises in the world. However, it all comes down to whether or not the team can deliver the experience they promise. On that end, we believe the future of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks bright.
Asmussen also points out that prototyping a game means “stitching” patches that work on other games. This is actually a creative process, that lets developers appreciate parts that work in other titles and create similar ones.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order development thankfully proceeded smoothly enough that Respawn was able to put out its November 15 release date and stick to it.
The game, which has been in the making since 2018, is Respawn’s first Star Wars game and its first non-first person shooter game since the studio is best known for the various Titanfall games and Apex Legends.
It is only 2 weeks until we get to see Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in action. It will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
