Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Companion Has A Holo-Function Like R2D2

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is releasing in three weeks, bringing a new twist to the Jedi universe. EA is excited to share information about their upcoming game and how it will hold up against similar action-adventure titles. Following the footsteps of games like God of War and Fallout 4, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will also give you a companion. It comes in the form of a new bot with the name BD-1.

According to the first information on Cal’s companion in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, BD1 is an exploration companion, assisting his comrade with several different tools to help him out during his furthest journeys. His “personality” is similar to that of BB-8, with whom he shares more, according to EA. BD-1 looks is a small bipedal robot, that reminds us a lot of Disney sweetheart Wall-e.

In terms of gameplay, BD-1 will be able to provide Cal with stimpacks, provide him with information and raise up the spirits when needed. Much like similar bots, BD-1 too can carry and display holographic maps and images, as the Official Xbox Magazine states. We’ve already seen him own a holographic atlas of planets, meaning that he might be the one you turn to to find your way around. We remember this use of bots from the original movies where R2D2 played a hologram video of princess Leia asking Obi-Wan for help. Expect BD-1 to have some similar functionality. Last but not least, the bot will be equipped with a flashlight, helping Cal find his way around in dark places.

Cal Kestis, the protagonist for Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is voiced by Cameron Monaghan, the iconic Joker from the Gotham series. If you loved his quirkiness then, you’ll love to see another of his work in Fallen Order. It doesn’t come often that we see a Star Wars game focus mainly on one character. However, after the cancelation of several relevant projects, it’s encouraging to see a narrative-driven title hit the shelves.

The upcoming Star Wars title is not far away from release. You’ll be able to play it in just three weeks. The official release for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC is set for November 15th. We’ll be covering news and guides for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order along the way at SegmentNext.
