With the release of Chapter 2, a new set of challenges has already started in Fortnite. The current set of challenges is called ‘Open Water’, which introduces a new feature known as ‘Hideouts’. Hideouts in Fortnite Chapter 2 allow players to hide from opponents and get a surprise attack on them. Granted, you could do this with bushes in Fortnite Chapter 1, but Chapter 2 takes this concept to a whole new level.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about these Hideouts.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Hideouts
Currently, two main types of Hideouts are available in the game. These are dumpsters and haystacks. Dumpsters will be found in the urban areas which have a lot of buildings – such as Sweaty Sands, Retail Row, and Dirty Docks. They will usually be present around the backs of buildings and in alleyways.
As for haystacks, they will be found quite frequently in agricultural areas, such as Frenzy Farm. Do note that they are pretty easy to miss since they blend into the environment very well, so keep an eye out for them.
How to Complete the Hideout Challenge
The Hideout challenge is very simple. For the first challenge, all you need to do is hide in a Hideout in three separate matches. And for the second challenge, you need to deal damage to a player within 10 seconds of leaving a hideout.
When you go near a Hideout, a ‘Hide’ prompt will appear next to it. Press the respective button to go into it. Once you’re hidden, you can secretly look around you and wait for any unsuspecting players to pass by. When a player gets near, quickly jump out and mow them down.
One thing to remember is other players can destroy your Hideout and cause you to pop out. So, if you see a player looking at your Hideout with ill intent, it’s probably best to jump out and attack them before they attack you.
That’s all you need to know about the Hideouts. Good luck completing the challenge
