Introducing Terra Invicta, From The Long War Devs

Anyone that’s played XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 is likely familiar with the “Long War” mod, which ups the difficulty and length of the game and adds in a number of new mechanics. However, the devs behind that mod are now making their own game, Terra Invicta, and its first trailer is now out.

Unlike XCOM, Terra Invicta is a grand strategy game in the style of games like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Stellaris, and other games of the like. An alien armada has been spotted in the outer reaches of the solar system, and humanity has split into a number of factions, each with its own way to approach the alien threat.

While some factions like the Initiative want to swindle the panicking human populace, and the Humanity First faction intends to destroy the aliens and anyone who advocates for peace with them, the player takes on the role as the leader of the faction known as the Resistance, aiming to try and unite humanity in the face of the alien threat.

Gameplay in Terra Invicta mainly revolves around the player recruiting agents including tycoons, government officials, and military officers, to exert their influence over the world’s nations and unite humanity against the aliens.

However, politics are only one part of the game. Along with your efforts on Earth, you must also establish various mining colonies across the entire solar system, harvesting resources, building space stations, and building war fleets in order to fight the alien menace.

Along with the aliens, you’ll also be competing against the other factions of humanity, and space battles will be against both them and the aliens. The fleet battles will have maneuverability and momentum as factors to look into, which you’ll have to take into account in that.

While there’s no release date for Terra Invicta yet, the studio, Pavonis Interactive, said that a Kickstarter for the game is imminent. You can see the trailer for the game by following this link.
