Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon Classes Detailed, Will Be Tied To The Progression System

Weekly Famitsu has some interesting details to share about the new Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon classes and how they’ll actually work in the game. As it seems, the upcoming title shifts to another direction than its predecessors, one that might make old fans worry but will breathe new air into the franchise.

Back in Tokyo Game Show 2019, we found out that Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon will bring an RPG twist to the series. This will include a robust progression system, somewhat turn-based combat and, of course, jobs or classes if you prefer that. According to the popular Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu, there will be at least three Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon classes. Also, the magazine details those jobs, which are closely tied to the game’s progression system. Let’s take a look:

  • Fortuneteller: A “squishy” class that can use mystical techniques through a crystal ball. With it, the fortuneteller can send burning and electrocuting attacks to enemies.
  • Riot Police: A high defense character with a shield. Preferably a tank or a knight in RPG terms.
  • Idol: This will be a female-only “job”. Main purpose of the idol is to enchant enemies and support allied forces. Furthermore, she’ll have a microphone and will have “song attacks” as well as physical damage. She’s basically the support of the Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon classes.

What’s interesting to note is that all these classes in Yakuza 7 won’t be selectable at first. You’ll have to build stats and unlock different jobs according to your “build”. Some known stats are Humor, Kindness, Enthusiasm and more. These will be present in the form of gauges that when filled will unlock a certain job. However,
