Thor is another character from Marvel’s Avengers who has been graciously chosen by Square Enix to receive a much-needed makeover.
He now has his hair tied up, similar to how it was at the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new hairdo definitely does the job and despite there being some amazing alternate skins, chances are that players will prefer Thor to not wear any Asgardian helmet at all. You can see for yourself below how the god of thunder looks in Marvel’s Avengers after the improvement.

Marvel’s Avengers is not based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is why all of the characters look so different. It’s understandable why fans would want their favorite characters to have similarities from the movies but some of the character models used in the game were just painful. Thor, as you can see below, looked off-setting with his previous hair.
Square Enix heard the call though. Before Marvel’s Avengers Thor, the publisher chose to improve the model of Black Widow. However, she didn’t receive a new hairdo. Instead, her face was updated to lose the squarish jaw and pincered eyes.
Suffice to say, Square Enix will be doing makeovers for most if not all of the remaining characters in Marvel’s Avengers. Tony Stark, without the armor, is the only one who looks acceptable. Captain America is another story. His model has probably received the most amount of complaints. It’s not just his face. The choice of his costume design is also questionable. It’s likely that Captain America will be the next in line for improvement.
According to developer Crystal Dynamics, Marvel’s Avengers will be new and original like the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy. Whether this will be the comic book adaptation that gamers have been waiting for their entire lives is still hard to say, but there’s surely some promise.
Marvel’s Avengers will have five playable characters at launch, a roster that will increase over time with post-release additions. The same goes for their respective alternate costumes, most of which have been taken from comic books.
Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 15, 2020.
