Frogwares Games Are Being Removed From Stores Due To Focus Home Interactive Policy

The video game industry is focused on providing entertainment and has brought memorable and fun experiences, but it definitely is not without controversies of all kinds.

In that sense, a dispute is about to take place between the Frogwares studio and the Focus Home Interactive distributor, which could put the creative team responsible for titles such as the Sherlock Holmes series and The Sinking City at risk.

The relationship between Frogwares and Focus Home Interactive is going through a very bad time because the games of the Ukrainian studio, specifically Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes v. Jack The Ripper and Magrunner: Dark Pulse, were removed by Focus Home from stores without notice.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments is a private detective adventure created by Arthur Conan Doyle in which you will have to solve six challenging cases: murders, disappearances or robberies, accompanied by his inseparable Dr. Watson. The detective will have to look for clues and interrogate witnesses or people related to the case, making decisions that will influence the resolution of the mystery.

According to a statement sent by Frogwares, the situation took them by surprise because the contract they had with Focus Home regarding publication and distribution was about to expire, which would allow the Ukrainian studio to regain legal control of their video games such as Sherlock Holmes, however, the creative team revealed that last week, Focus Home sent them a statement stating the following.

We have implemented a policy according to which no title, content identification or title identification will be transferred, which belongs to any developer who has removed all of their games from the Focus catalog.

Obviously, Frogwares appealed to this and pointed out that nowhere in the contract that they entered into with Focus Home Interactive at the time is something that alludes to this new policy or that warns its possible implementation.

According to Frogwares, this situation could put the study at risk because at this time there is no way to market the games mentioned above, which causes only bad things in its business model.

Finally, the study pointed out that it is the first time in 20 years that it faces something like that and they mentioned that they may lose the income generated by these games partially or totally.

This is very sad news for the developer and for all their fans who loved their games from the beginning. The studio has a lot of potential and they have proved it time and time again, especially with their latest title, The Sinking City.

The Sinking City will take you to the strange city of Oakmont, Massachusetts. As a private detective hired by one of the town’s neighbors to investigate a strange disappearance, we will discover that there are mysterious weather conditions in the city that are drowning and flooding the city.

Following the stories of HP Lovecraft, we will find a magical and strange story, full of supernatural terrors, ancient gods and creatures out of the same time.

I remind you that The Sinking City released on June 27, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
