The Surge 2 Combat Drone and Modules Guide

In The Surge 2, after you have beaten Warden Garcia, you are gifted a Combat Drone. The Combat Drone is a special device that can be deployed during combat to assist the player and the drone can be augmented with various modules that are starkly distinct from one another.

This Combat Drone and Modules Guide will go over the various modules and their capabilities. Many of the modules are purely for combat purposes but others provide you with certain buffs and are, essentially, necessary tools to help you progress through The Surge 2.

The Surge 2 Combat Drone

Drones require some form of fuel, in most cases they require Omni-cells, but certain drones instead consume other items that can be looted from downed enemies.

The list below will give you all the pertinent information for each available Drone Module in The Surge 2:

R-1 ‘Diode’ Laspistol
A Combat Drone designed to fire projectiles at all enemies in the vicinity. This is useful in creating some distance between you and your enemies while simultaneously dealing damage.

The drone can also be used to lure enemies towards certain areas, allowing you to get past without being detected. It is also capable of firing a fast beam of focused energy.

W-102 Banner
An interesting one, this is a player interactive drone. Where you deploy it, the drone creates a banner with your name and image, this banner is visible to other players for a period of 1 hour.

The people who interact with this banner will receive a Tech Scrap reward – it disappears for them once they’ve touched it.

After the period has ended, the number of people who touched the banner will determine how much Tech Scrap you yourself will receive (the reward will be greater if fewer people touched it). You can deploy other drones while this one is active.

W-101 Spray Can
Another player interactive drone that allows you to create some graffiti art that will be visible to other players. The drone has 3 available slots, all of which can be equipped with different Graffiti Tags.

You can choose what kind of pictogram you wish to graffiti on surfaces (gameplay tips, emotes, directions, etc) which can be used to trick other players or to help them.

Klokonov R-47 Autorifle
A Combat Drone that fires 3 round burst-fire projectiles, doing a serious amount of damage. It can also be used to lure or trick enemies.

Molotov Cocktail Drone
A Combat Drone that fires Molotov Cocktails (a bottle of fuel that’s been lighted on fire and will explode on impact) at enemies, dealing direct damage and incrementing incendiary damage.

  • Fuel: 1 Molotov Cocktail per shot

Grenade Drone
A Combat Drone that launches grenades at the enemy. Capable of high damage output, this is one of the most powerful drones in the game.

  • Fuel: 1 Grenade per shot

SPARK Engineer’s Turret Drone
A Combat Drone that places an automatic turret in the location of your choosing. Capable of firing at all enemies that come within its line of sight, it is a very powerful assistant in the battlefield.

  • Fuel: Must have SPARK Engineer’s Turret that can be deployed

EMP-44 ‘Starfish’
A multipurpose module, this one is capable of doing Electro Damage to multiple enemies – attaches itself to an enemy and can be blown up with a single shot; has a large area of effect so multiple enemies can be damaged.

It can also be used to open magnetic locks.

CREO Industrial Magnet
A Combat Drone module that can be sent towards the enemy and drag them towards you, allowing you to do damage.

Its main purpose is to drag enemies out of hiding, can also be used on enemies high above – they can be dropped off from their vantage points, this will deal considerable damage.
