The Last of Us 2 Is The Most Ambitious And Longest Game Naughty Dog Have Made To Date

The video game industry has seen some amazing news with the official release date of The Last of Us 2 being announced.

Neil Druckmann who heads the project has written a few words in the PlayStation Blog that give us a bit more details about the project and explained why it is the company’s most ambitious and longest game to date.

We began working on this game over five years ago. It’s hard to describe the immense pressure of following up the first game. We know how much you love this world and its characters — especially Ellie and Joel. Believe me, we’re fans as well. We love them. Which is why we spent years crafting a game that we feel will do them justice, telling a nuanced story that deals with the core question: how far would you go to exact justice against the people that hurt the ones you love? It’s a highly emotional story with complex themes that befit the world of The Last of Us.

What we realized pretty early on is that we were putting together Naughty Dog’s most ambitious and longest game in our 35 year history. To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive. Without spoiling too much, at the top of this post you can watch the brand-new trailer that we debuted earlier today on State of Play, which just scratches the surface of what the game has in store.

The great mystery was finally solved. We now know the release date of the highly expected The Last of Us 2. During the last State of Play, issued by Sony, the Naughty Dog team has confirmed that their new action adventure will be released worldwide this February 21, 2020.

The announcement is preceded by a brief but intense trailer that allows us to see some action sequences, several of the scenarios regarding Ellie, the fearsome clickers, and of course Joel.

They have shared no more in depth details about The Last of Us 2, but we hope to expand the information in the coming days.

The fantastic The Last of Us: Remastered will be one of the video games that will be part of the October PlayStation Plus lineup, with the MLB sports title The Show 19 being the other addition for subscribers of this paid service.

The remastering of The Last of Us adapts to PlayStation 4 the great action video game developed by Naughty Dog on PS3, introducing the Left Behind prequel as standard and some other novelties such as Photo Mode, among other technical improvements.

Both The Last of Us Remastered and MLB The Show 19 will be available on the PlayStation Store between October 1 and November 4 for free for all PS Plus subscribers.
