Infinity Ward Director Says PS4 Exclusive Content Is Just 1% Of Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare director, Tylor Kurosaki, has come out to defend PS4 exclusive content. When a fan brought up his frustration about the PS4 exclusive game modes “ruining” his experience, Tylor says all of the exclusive content is just 1% of the game.

Let’s be honest, “ruining” is an exaggeration. Survival is 1% of the game. The other 99% is simultaneous day and date across all platforms. I’d rather have everyone playing 99% of the content at the same time than 100% of the content sometime later.

While timed-exclusive content has been around for a long time, the issue isn’t really with time-exclusivity. Since the days of Xbox 360 days, Microsoft partnered with Activision for exclusive content for Call of Duty. The partnership shifted to Sony with the release of PlayStation 4. Usually, the timed exclusivity lasts for about 2-3 weeks, maximum a month. However, this time around Modern Warfare content is exclusive for a whole year.

Players on Xbox One and PC won’t be able to play Survival Mode in Modern Warfare until October 1, 2020. This essentially means survival mode will be playable close to the release of the next Call of Duty.

By then, most of the community will move on to Call of Duty 2020. The exclusive agreement means Xbox One and PC fans should forget about this mode as there won’t be any point in playing it next year.

Modern Warfare 2019 is releasing on October 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are live on Blizzard, PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Marketplace. The recent beta proved to be a big success for Infinity Ward. With the release of the game, IW promises to fix most of its issues that were reported by the community. Post-release content plans are in motions as well and from the looks of it, some of it might be exclusive to PS4 yet again. Still, the rumored Battle royale mode is something we can expect to roll out at the same time on all platforms.
