Cyberpunk 2077 has many attractions, but one of the biggest has to do with exploring the exciting city of Night City. A city that has had a complex design history behind it.
In an interview with GamesIndustry, Concept art coordinator Marthe Jonkers explained it all.
Our team has probably seen every cyberpunk movie that exists, we’ve read the books, and we know we have this all in our head. We know the whole canon of cyberpunk. But we still wanted to create something that was really fresh and new.
We did that by really tapping into the lore that was created in the ’80s with Cyberpunk 2020, and also taking this timeline, between 2020 and 2077, and letting those events that happened in-between define the way that Night City will look in 2077.
Really early in the project, we were thinking about it. Our art directors mostly were really trying to nail down this sort of visual background for Night City. And that we use really as a guideline for the visual styles in the game, and you will actually see a lot of old styles reflected in the fashion and the weapon designs.
Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely one of the most anticipated video games next year. What is expected from the DLC of the new CD Projekt video game?
It seems that the reference to follow will be from the same house, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so there is nothing to fear. It has been explained by one of the main managers in level design, Max Pears.
With The Witcher 3, the game improved with updates of quality of life for the community also in which they improved elements such as the user interface and similar things. So the developers will listen to the comments of the community.
The developers have learned a lot from The Witcher 3 and how the DLCs worked there. They have also learned from that experience and applied its strategy to the Cyberpunk DLCs, so they will try to take what they have learned from The Witcher 3 and apply it everywhere within their Cyberpunk 2077 game.
We can’t say much about the multiplayer because it is still in development. According to CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiplayer must fit with what they are as a company, because the story is very important to them, and it has to match the way they design and launch games.
That’s why it was so important go through an R&D process with the multiplayer. It helps them make sure that they are launching something that feels like a multiplayer.
The CD Projekt RED plan involves launching the multiplayer as downloadable content after the premiere, so everything suggests that the multiplayer will still take a few months. In any case, the decision and commitment of CD Projekt to create something at the height of the franchise should reassure fans of the title.
I remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive in stores on April 16, 2020. We can play it on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia
