Ubisoft Montpellier has opened up its new flagship studio in Castelnau-le-Lez in France and gotten right to work, and Beyond Good And Evil 2 innovation is one of the big things that’s being worked on there. It’s big enough, in fact, that Ubisoft has dedicated the entire top floor to the game’s production.
Infamously, it’s been 16 years since Ubisoft released the first Beyond Good and Evil game, and the sequel was only announced at the Ubisoft conference at E3 2017. Since then we’ve been getting drip-fed various new bits of information and trailers while Ubisoft has been hard at work.
We’ve already been seeing various bits of Beyond Good and Evil 2 innovation in what we’ve seen, such as Ubisoft wanting to make the game a multiplayer experience where we can interact with other players as we go through the game ourselves.
The game itself also is taking on a life of its own, taking us to new planets and new worlds that are far removed from the ones that we knew in the original game. At the same time, we still don’t have a true plot for whatever the game is going to be about.
The game’s size with all of the new places to go matches the ambitions of the developers, which is part of the reason for the team going crazy with the Beyond Good and Evil 2 innovation. While we haven’t heard anything about the game in a while, not even a release date, hopefully the wait will end up being worth it.
While most people may dislike the “always online” attitude that many games seem to be going by now, hopefully the Beyond Good and Evil 2 version will make it so that players aren’t forced to interact with one another.
Either way, we’ll see what comes of all of this Beyond Good and Evil 2 innovation when the game releases, hopefully at some point soon in the future.
