The pirate life in the Sea of Thieves has just entered a new stage and the development team launched new content that will allow players and teams to take a pet that will accompany them on all adventures at sea, as well as a new system of microtransactions called Pirate Emporium.
The good reception of the Sea of Thieves multiplayer proposal has been enough for Rare to remain motivated to bring content to this pirate adventure and players will be able to get a pet which has been thought as a member of the team and not only as a simple extension.
According to the Sea of Thieves development team, virtual pirates will be able to get hold of one of the different types of parrots or monkeys that will be available to join the crew and it will have different types of interaction with players, including moments of fun, recreation, tension and fear.
However, Rare also presented its new microtransaction system, Pirate Emporium, which has been designed from feedback with the community and, according to the development team, this system will allow obtaining a source of income that serves to expand the pirate world we know today.
In that sense, Rare made it clear that they are not selling any type of advantage, as they will not divide the players. Pirate Emporium works with Ancient Coins, the currency of the game, which can be obtained with real money or playing, so it is optional content that will not affect the gaming experience.
In this regard, the Ancient Coins can be obtained by eliminating the Ancient Skeletons, which will not be an easy bone to crack, but upon obtaining the victory, there will be loot available with the Ancient Coins, although it is necessary to hurry to collect the coins because they may get lost in the sand.
Pirate Emporium debuts with 3 items that can be purchased, one of them the pets mentioned above, emotes, and cosmetic content.
Sea of Thieves has a peculiar artistic design and a graphic section that reminds me a lot of the cartoon technique. In the game players must coordinate and cooperate to carry out the management and control of their own pirate ship, with which they can explore the sea in search of islands, secrets and hidden treasures while competing or allying with other pirates in a totally online world, alive and shared with other players.
Regarding the gameplay, the game combines classic elements of MMO, action and combat with swords or muskets against enemies (PvE) or other players (PvP), approaches to enemy ships, important elements with which to favor both underwater and terrestrial exploration and resolution of puzzles.
Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox One and PC.
