A new Resident Evil project, called Project Resistance, is going to be revealed by Capcom. This will be before the Tokyo Game Show 2019 on Sept. 9. The game is expected on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, according to Capcom’s Project Resistance teaser website.
You can watch the trailer on the Capcom YouTube page at 8 a.m. PST on Sept. 9. If you are lucky enough to be at the Tokyo Game Show, you’ll be able to get a glimpse of gameplay at the Capcom booth at set times during the show. The dates on which is being held are Sept. 12 to Sept. 15 at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe.
But not everyone will be able to play Project Resistance. You will have to register in advance to play the game at the show. In addition to this, you’ll have to a Japanese resident, says the Project Resistance website.
We don’t have much information about the project. However, images of the game have since been leaked online.
A Reddit user grabbed thumbnails of the teaser trailer by posting the teaser link on a thumbnail grabbing site.
Even though the thumbnails are blurred, they seem to suggest that it’s a four player game.
The teaser seems to show no recurring characters. This has made people think that maybe this game isn’t Resident Evil 8. This also tells us for sure that this isn’t a remake.
Resident Evil enthusiasts on the internet are hoping Project Resistance is similar to Resident Evil Outbreak, an online survival horror game released in 2003 for PlayStation 2. The game was beloved by its dedicated fans, some of which put the game and its sequel back online on a private server in Japan in 2014.
We knew a new game was in development when Resident Evil ambassadors in Japan and America got emails asking them to sign up to “test” a game. Some hoped that this would be a main storyline sequel. The last game, Resident Evil 7: BioHazard had sufficiently shaken up things enough that the franchise didn’t seem stale anymore.
Then Resident Evil 2 Remake was released earlier this year and it was an absolute masterpiece. So after the news that Capcom was asking people to sign up and test the game, people thought it would be either of these two.
But it seems that Capcom has defied our expectations.
We’ll know for sure, in a few days. Until then, keep reading Segmentnext.
