Do you remember playing as a street urchin in the streets of Agrabah? Do you remember jumping among trees as Simba? If you don’t, it’s okay, that means you’re still young enough to get into Fortnite. Go for it! But if you do wanna relive that experience, according to reports, an HD remaster of The Lion King and Aladdin is being made.
The reports say that the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis classics The Lion King and Aladdin are getting HD remasters. They will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch this fall. The news was leaked out of GameStop Con by Twitter user @wolverinefactor. Later on, GameXplain confirmed with an image of the collection’s marketing material and case designs.

The reports state that both games will be bundled into one HD remaster collection. You will have the option to play them in the original and 1080p resolutions. Both the original and SNES/Genesis soundtracks will be included as well as additional features. In what will surely be welcome news, you can let the gameplay its self during the tutorials. Apart from that, you can fast-forward and rewind to any point in the game.
As pointed out by IGN, Aladdin was present on GOG.com from 2016 up till this year, when it was removed. Apart from that, considering the live-action versions of both movies have been released this year helps this rumor. It would be the perfect time to capitalize on the new fan base that these movies brought in.
However, this does not mean that there has been an official announcement. We have yet to hear the news being confirmed by a studio or developer. That said, the leaks are very convincing and have been corroborated by a reputable source in Gematsu. Either way, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be waiting long for official word – reportedly, pre-orders will open at GameStop Wednesday.
