Notification Suggests Ash Was Originally In Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Pack

The remaining members of Mortal Kombat’s DLC Kombat Pack #1 were revealed recently. To the disappointment of many, Ash Williams from the Evil Dead Universe, wasn’t one of these characters. However, a mysterious notification has made some believe that Ash was originally going to show up in the DLC.

NetherRealm teased the character in a trailer and that was what got many thinking that Ash Williams’ appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 would happen soon. Fans of the classic chainsaw wielding character were over the moon because of this news.

When the other DLC characters were revealed, instead of Ash, there were two other other surprise addition: the Terminator T-800 and Batman’s nemesis The Joker. This has made people wonder if he was removed at the last minute.

A Kombat Pack notification that appeared in some versions of Mortal Kombat 11 seems to confirm this suspicion. The pop-op features a photo of Shang Tsun and it says “Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator, Ash Williams, Sindel, and Spawn will join the fight.” This notification seems to show that instead of Joker, Ash was originally going to be in the DLC.

This has made people try to deduce what actually happened. In Jun the trailer used chainsaw sounds to seemingly tease the upcoming inclusion of Ash, Bruce Campbell (the actor who plays Ash) tweeted about the trailer. At the time, this all-but confirmed that the character would eventually show up in the game despite the fact that Campbell had previously denied that Ash would show in MK11.

This whole ordeal has been kind of a roller coaster for fans of Mortal Kombat and Evil Dead. No one has said anything directly or officially about the character appearing in the game and yet it seems nearly impossible at this point for these teases and leaks to carry no weight. Fans have started to wonder if something happened with the character’s inclusion in the game that made them remove him at the last minute, but NetherRealm has not commented.

Some have pointed out that a second Kombat Pack will launch once all of the fighters from the first pack have released. It seems possible at this point, with all of the clues, that the character might show up in Kombat Pack 2 instead. If that does happen, players will have to wait a while to find out. The final character for Kombat Pack 1 doesn’t drop until March of 2020 and players shouldn’t expect to hear anything more until after that.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
