Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated video games by the millions of fans that CD Projekt RED has earned thanks to its work with The Witcher saga. When the video game lands on the market next April, it will focus on the single player experience without having multiplayer elements.
However, for some time now, CD Projekt RED confirmed that they were looking for ways to bring multiplayer as post-launch content into Cyberpunk 2077, although as of today this is still not yet confirmed.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers has confirmed that CD Projekt RED are still working on the multiplayer addition for Cyberpunk 2077, but for now there is nothing definitive and they are mostly working on the single-player experience. Below you will find his exact statement.
We are doing R&D into multiplayer but we’re focusing on single-player experience, and that’s what you’ll get in 2020. It doesn’t mean we’re saying no multiplayer, but it doesn’t mean we’re saying yes either. It’s still an R&D phase.
If you add multiplayer functions it has to be right. Immersion is super important for us and we have to make sure everything fits together. The single-player experience, it all fits together. We’re not just going to slap some [multiplayer] feature in and that’ll be it.
It’s possible if it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit. We would never make anything that’s not at least The Witcher standard for Cyberpunk. I don’t know what the future holds but we will make sure everything we make will be high quality.
With these words, it seems that we will have to wait to learn more about a possible multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077.
In an interview with GameSpot, the game’s producer, Richard Borzymowski said the following regarding possible DLC’s and expansions for Cyberpunk 2077.
We know how well received the DLCs and expansions were for The Witcher. Right now, and I’m not lying about this, we are 100% focused on the main game. Bearing in mind how well received The Witcher’s expansions were, there will be time to think about expansions for Cyberpunk 2077.
We remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive on April 16 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and, as it was recently revealed, also on the upcoming Google Stadia.
