The endgame content for Borderlands 3 has finally been presented at Gamescom 2019. It will ultimately be based on two game modes, namely Proving Grounds and the Circle of Slaughter.
Paul Sage, the creative director of Gearbox Software, explained at the opening ceremony of the Cologne event how these two endgame content will work within the game.
The Circle of Slaughter, which returns from previous Borderlands deliveries, will be led by the weapons manufacturers of Torgue. In these missions, if the player dies and there are no close teammates available to revive him, the game is over.
This mode consists of five hordes with multiple waves of bandits, robots and hostile beasts that will have to be faced while Mister Torgue narrates the plays.
Completing challenges, such as linking melee attacks or grenade deaths, will get better rewards when completing the Circle of Slaughter.
The Proving Grounds will be unlocked once sufficient progress has been made in the game’s campaign. These are thematic missions in which an Eridian Guardian test players’ firearm finesse.
These are time trial challenges in which players will have to clear three areas full of enemies and face a final boss, all in less than 30 minutes.
The less time it takes to complete, the better rewards will be obtained, and these can be even juicier if they are completed without dying or by killing a Fallen Guardian who you can find on the map.
At the end of the level, there will always be a chest with quality loot, but the best weapons can only be obtained if this game mode is mastered.
You can see almost 10 minutes of gameplay in the video below.
Borderlands 3 will be available on September 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (exclusive to Epic Games Store). Later it will be launched for Google Stadia.
