What the Hell is “Bonaire”? A New Game From Rockstar? A DLC for RDR2?

A mysterious title called 'Bonaire' has emerged on the Australian Classification website with 'Rockstar Games' listed as the publisher and developer. There's a strong chance Bonaire is a Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC.

After the critical and commercial success of Red Dead Redemption 2, many fans wondered what would be the next game Rockstar Games would release. And now it seems we may know what that is going to be. A mysterious title called ‘Bonaire’ has emerged on the Australian Classification website with ‘Rockstar Games’ listed as the publisher and developer.

It was first reported by Kotaku Australia yesterday on its website. As of right now, it is unclear exactly what Rockstar Games’ Bonaire is. This is primarily due to the lack of information on the Australian Classification website. All we know is that the Australian Classification has refused to classify Bonaire in Australia with no further reasoning as to why.

Granted, a lot of Rockstar Games’ titles have been refused classification in Australia at first but then found a way to sell despite that. So, there’s still a chance Bonaire will get classified nonetheless.

As far as the question of what Bonaire is, it could be a number of things. One theory suggests Bonaire is a DLC for Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2. Bonaire is the name of a Caribbean island. Since a significant chunk of Red Dead Redemption 2’s story takes place on the fictional island of Guarma, it is highly likely Rockstar Games’ has decided to throw Bonaire in there as well.

If Bonaire is a DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 then it is possible it is an expansion for the single-player campaign. On the other hand, it is also possible Bonaire could be featured in Red Dead Online or GTA Online as they are one of Rockstar’s best games right now being played.

Just quite recently, we have also been hearing a lot of leaks and rumors regarding some of other Rockstar titles such as Bully 2, LA Noire 2, and of course, GTA VI. So, there’s also a chance Bonaire has something to do with that.

Since Rockstar Games haven’t announced anything official regarding Bonaire, it is best to take this information with a huge mountain of salt.
