Sony took to PlayStation Blog and confirmed Death Stranding back in 2015. The reason why not many people knew about this is that Sony deleted this post to hide the fact that there is a PC version in development.
It seems Kojima Productions and Sony agreed to not take the attention away from PS4. Thankfully, the past is dug up to show that there was indeed a confirmation. The post by Sony’s Pad Poet had a clear mention of PC as well as Death Stranding’s console exclusive.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Kojima Productions, a newly formed studio by the acclaimed game designer Hideo Kojima, to develop its first software title as a console exclusive to the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) computer entertainment system.
The FAQ section of the PlayStation Blog post confirmed that Death Stranding PC will release after the PS4 version. But at the time Sony wasn’t ready to “disclose further details” of the game’s console exclusive details.
Another interesting element of this post is the fact that Sony doesn’t seem to be the owner of the IP. Although that may have changed since then but Sony will only publish “the first title,” according to the deleted post.
This also indicates that Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions have more entries planned for Death Stranding. Kojima is known for creating iconic characters and stories in video games that span across decades so it won’t surprise if there are more Death Stranding games.
Death Stranding is releasing on PS4 this November and will possibly come to PC next year.
Sony recently removed Death Stranding’s PS4 exclusive status from its page which indicates that actual confirmation from Kojima could come by the end of the year.
