Field Upgrades in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are a new item slot which can give you a deployable tool or an upgrade to your weapon. They can be recharged, with each upgrade having its own charge rate. This recharge rate of the upgrade is relative to how powerful it is. These Field Upgrades remind us of the Specialists from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. However, they don’t seem to carry as much importance in the battles. As of right now, the following 6 different Field Upgrades are known:

| Field Upgrade | Effect |
| Munitions Box | This upgrade grants a box of ammo, grenades and weapons for you and your team. You should be careful while using this one. |
| Recon Drone | This upgrade grants a remote-controlled drone which locates enemies, equipment, and vehicles in the battlefield. |
| Stopping Power Rounds | This upgrade grants you special ammo which deals much more damage to enemies. |
| Trophy System | This upgrade grants you a special defense system. Up to three pieces of equipment and projectiles located close by can be demolished by it. |
| Tactical Insertion | This upgrade selects a location for you to use as your next spawn point. |
| Deployable Cover | This upgrade grants you a transportable ballistic shield which can be deployed very quickly, it could serve as a huge clutch when you’re on low health. |
