Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a phenomenal game that supports the series’ first ever co-op compaign. We have compiled a list of tweaks that you will help you run the game with maximum frame-rate while having the least visual impact.
This guide is made with nVidia cards in mind, but do mind that you can also use this guide for AMD cards.
If anything goes wrong, return to default settings and change one setting at a time.

Before we begin, here are the system requirements for the game:
Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
  • Processor: AMD FX-8350/Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-3570/i7-3770
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 770 4GB (Current available GPU GTX1650) or AMD equivalent
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 40 GB of free disk space

  • Processor: AMD FX-9370/Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i7-4770

Anti-Aliasing

If you’re running the game on a low-spec graphics card like the GTX 1650, ,keep the Anti-Aliasing setting on FXAA or TAA at best.
Anti-Aliasing helps keep the edges of textures smooth or sharp, depending on the setting you may use.
If you’re running a maxed out card like the GTX 2080, keep the settings on TSAA 8X as that would give you the best visual fidelity without reducing performance by much.

Film Grain

Film Grain adds the effect of old movie into the game. There is little to no performance hit.
Turn the setting on, on your own accord.
Best Performance: Off/On
Best Visual: Off/On

Lights

Lights are a major part of the game. Slide the setting to Low if you’re running a GTX 770 equivalent. Otherwise, if you’re on a Turing GPU, slide towards High.
Ultra makes the most impact on FPS, so use it only if you really need to.
Best Performance: Low
Best Visual: Medium/High

Particles

All the extra smoke and lightning particles depend on this setting, and so does a lot of your FPS. Though the difference is inconsistent, if you’re in a fast-paced combat area, keep the setting on Low.

Directional Occlusion

Directional Occlusion has a lot of impact on how your game actually looks, and does affect your FPS by quite a bit. If you want all the juice you can, go with Off setting, otherwise a Medium setting should suffice.

Decal Filtering

There is minimal impact between Decal Filtering on any setting, so you can put the setting to max with minimal impact on performance.
Best Performance: AA 8x
Best Visual: AA 16x

Decals

There is almost no performance impact between Low and High setting with Decals, so go crazy.
Best Performance: High
Best Visual: Ultra

Motion Blur

You may want to keep this setting off, if you dislike Motion Blur. However, if you’re one of the 1% population that actually likes Motion Blur, turn it on. It will have a noticeable impact on FPS.
Best Performance: Off
Best Visual: Off

Motion Blur (strength)

If you have turned on Motion Blur, keep it to Medium at max for best performance.

Best Performance: Low
Best Visual: Medium

Image Streaming

If you have a video card with equal to or more than 6 GB of video memory, go with High or Ultra Setting. This will help reduce loading times for high quality textures. But if you have 4 GB of memory, stick with Medium.

Water Quality

Water Quality has a huge impact on FPS so stick with keeping the setting on Medium for balanced fidelity and performance. But if you want all that extra juicy FPS, toggle it to Low.

Volumetric Quality makes the game looks absolutely stunning on better settings, if used in combination with Lights settings. Keep the Volumetric Quality on Medium for best FPS.

Not much FPS difference, unless you put Material Ansio Filter on 16x AA, which is not recommended. Go for 4x AA for beauty.

Reflections

For balanced gameplay with reflections, keep the setting on Medium. RTX is coming soon for this game too, and when it does, this setting is going to be very important for people who want ray tracing and performance.

Lightmap Ansio Filter

There is a little to no performance impact with Lightmap Ansio Filter, so keep the setting on max.
Best Performance: Trilinear
Best Visual: AA 16x

Image Ansio Filter

Same as Lightmap Filter, There is a little to no performance impact with Image Ansio Filter, so keep the setting on max.
Best Performance: AA 16x
Best Visual: AA 16x

GPU Culling

Most modern nVidia graphics cards are efficient at rendering on global levels, so keep this setting off if you have a high-end GPU.
Best Performance: Off
Best Visual: Off

nVidia Adaptive Shading

Turn this option on, if you have an nVidia GPU card. For the best performance and visualitym keep the setting on Balanced.
Best Performance: Performance
Best Visual: Balanced

Chromatic Abberation

Some people have issues with Chromatic Abberation turned on. There isn’t much of an FPS difference between CA toggled on or off.
Best Performance: Off
Best Visual: Off

Depth of Field

There is a 10-15% FPS difference while toggling Depth of Field, so keep the Depth of Field on Off unless you really want the game to look stunning.
Best Performance: Off
Best Visual: On

DoF Anti-Aliasing

There is a little to no performance impact with Anti-Aliasing in Depth of Field, so keep the setting on max.
Best Performance: On
Best Visual: On

HDR Bloom

HDR Bloom has the most impact visually, while the least impact in performance. This is the best Wolfenstein: Youngblood tweak. For best visual settings, use an HDR supported monitor and GPU.
Best Performance: Off
Best Visual: On

Sharpening

Low amount of impact on performance, but does make the game look good. Keep it on 3 or 4 for balanced gameplay.

Async Compute

Asycn Compute help the CPU and GPU compute multiple things at once. Keep the setting Off if you have a weak CPU, as it will only bottleneck the gameplay and increase stutter. But with a good CPU, keep it on and you’ll have a good performance boost.

Deferred Rendering

Use this option only if you have an old GTX 7xx series GPU or an AMD GPU. If you have a newer GPU, use nVidia Adapting Shading.
