A petition has started on Change.org to get Megan Rapinoe on the cover image of EA Sport’s FIFA 20. For those who don’t know, Rapinoe is an American professional soccer player who plays for Reign FC in the National Women’s Soccer League.
In addition to this, Rapinoe helped the U.S. win the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In short, Rapinoe is a rising football star and currently, there’s no one else more befitting of being the FIFA 20 cover star.
A Megan Rapinoe Fan named Darren Holland started petitioning Electronic Arts recently to put Rapinoe on FIFA 20 cover image after IGN posted an edited cover image of FIFA 20 with Rapinoe on it.
The petition has been signed by over 1,428 people and more people are joining in.
Here’s what Holland says in the petition:
[FIFA] needs to change its policy on prize money but that’s just the start. More exposure of this team and women’s football will help change their minds. EA has already done more than FIFA in terms of support so this is a no-brainer which I know they must be contemplating. Much respect to IGN for the original post and image on social media.
Unfortunately, EA has not yet replied to the petition. However, Megan Rapinoe as the FIFA 20 cover star is possible. Because Electronic Arts have not yet revealed FIFA 20 cover stars. Furthermore, Rapinoe wouldn’t be the first female soccer player to appear on the cover of FIFA video game series. Yes, Alex Morgan was on the cover of FIFA 16 along with Lionel Messi.
I think it’s time for EA to start giving more importance to women in their FIFA franchise. The first thing they can do is put Rapinoe on the cover of FIFA 20 along with a male star. There are also rumors that FIFA 20 will feature women’s club football for the first time in the series.
Do you think EA Sports should put Rapinoe on the front cover of FIFA 2020? If yes then you should sign the petition over at Change.Org.
We can expect EA to reveal the cover star of FIFA 20 soon as the game is just a few months away from release.
FIFA 20 is scheduled to release on September 27, 2019, for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. The game is now also available for digital pre-order via Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store.
This year, FIFA will arrive with new features, Volta mode, new teams, and more. Players will be able to play with their favorite teams like Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus in FIFA 20. A demo of the game is expected to arrive a few weeks before the game’s release.
