Dragon Quest Builders 2 Multiplayer Guide – How to Unlock, Crossplay, Does It Support Splitscreen?

Learn how to unlock Dragon Quest Builders 2 Multiplayer Mode, how crossplay works, and whether you can play with your friends in Splitscreen Mode.

One of the most notable features of the newly released Dragon Quest Builders 2 is its Multiplayer Mode, but it is not unlocked straight away! In this Multiplayer Guide, we will explain how to unlock the Multiplayer Mode in Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Multiplayer

In order to unlock the Multiplayer Mode, the first thing you need to do is to progress through the story and complete the game’s initial island called Furrowfield.

Once you are done with Furrowfield, travel back to the island you spawned on called The Island of Awakening.

In the Isle of Awakening, search for a quest which has a Stone Tablet. To finish this quest, you will have to do 4 things:

Make a meadow, a river, a forest, and then bring the Quest Giver a chicken.

Once all these objectives have been cleared, the Explorer’s Shores will be unlocked. Here, you can follow the Hermit to a portal on the beach. Jump into the portal to start playing the Multiplayer Mode.

Playing with Friends on Splitscreen, Crossplay
If you are wondering whether you can play with your friends on a splitscreen, you, unfortunately, cannot! Dragon Quest Builders 2 does not support a Splitscreen Mode.

In order for multiple players to play together, each one of them has to have their own device with the game installed. One upside is that cross-play is enabled, meaning that Nintendo Switch players and PS4 players can play the game together.

If you are on the Nintendo Switch, you will need a Nintendo Online subscription and if you are on the PS4, you will need a PS Plus subscription.

If you and your friend are both on a Nintendo Switch and close to each other, you can connect your devices through a wireless connection and play together.

Once multiplayer has been unlocked, you can either invite your friends to play on your island or you can join them on theirs.

Lastly, do note that the Multiplayer Mode is currently limited to Explorer’s Shores and you cannot play the entire game with your friends.
