Borderlands 3 is one of 2019’s most anticipated games, if not one of the most anticipated games of all time. With this much hype already built around Borderlands 3, it seems the developer Gearbox Software is teasing cross-play functionality in the game.
According to an image posted by The Official Borderlands 3 account on Twitter this Friday, cross-play functionality may or may not be a feature in the game when the release date comes.
In the image, we can see the game developer Gearbox Software is inviting fans for a “Celebration for Togetherness” this Tuesday, July 16th, 2019. Of course, this could mean anything at this point since it is just a teaser. On the other hand, it is also very likely that Gearbox Software is teasing cross-play for Borderlands 3.

This would, of course, make a lot of sense when we consider that the game is releasing on so many platforms. Borderlands will be releasing on Microsoft Windows PC, Google Stadia, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this September. So when it comes to Borderlands 3’s multiplayer mode, it is likely Gearbox Software is striving towards cross-play across all these different platforms.
Borderlands 3’s multiplayer will feature a co-op system consisting of 4 players. Not only that, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said before the release date announcement that the developer has “a very keen interest in cross-platform play.”
That being said, it isn’t confirmed as of right now. “Cross-play is something we’re looking at closely, but we don’t have anything to confirm or announce at this time,” said 2K quite recently.
Another big thing is whether or not Borderlands 3 will have ads which still hasn’t been confirmed but may happen as an option to make more money.
Borderlands 3 is the third installment in the series, it is an upcoming first-person RPG with a release date set for 13 September 2019 for Microsoft Windows PC, Google Stadia, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
