[Update] Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One Release Confirmed by Xbox Germany Facebook

Update: Xbox Germany’s marketing communications and social lead Maxi Graff over at Xbox Germany has now confirmed that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake listing for Xbox One was an “internal mistake”. Graff continued to say that the team will make sure in the future that these kinds of mistakes never happen again. In short, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not coming to Xbox One yet.

Original Story:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Xbox One according to a post by Xbox Germany Facebook. As expected, the post was removed shortly but a ResetEra user managed to take a screenshot of it before it was removed.

The screenshot which you can check out below was provided on ResetEra. It’s clear that Xbox DACH was advertising that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release on March 3, 2020, for Xbox One.

The translated caption of the image reads:

This is great news for Final Fantasy fans who own Xbox One. However, we advise everyone to treat the provided information as a rumor for now. That’s because the game is not yet announced for platforms other than PlayStation 4.

Removal of the post makes us think that it could but nothing but a mistake made by the admin of Xbox Germany Facebook page. On the other hand, it could be something bigger and was not meant to be seen by the public yet.

There’s one thing to notice. We remember that Square Enix said during E3 2019 that Final Fantasy VII Remake will arrive first on PS4, confirming that the game will arrive on another platform.

In addition to this, the now-removed post said that the Xbox version of the game will arrive on the same day as on PS4, which further suggests that Square Enix’s timed exclusive deal with Sony might have ended.

With that said, now we can do nothing but wait to hear the official announcement of  FF7 Remake on Xbox One by Microsoft. It’s safe to assume that Final Fantasy VII Remake will arrive on Xbox One after its release on PS4.

Square Enix is known for releasing games on all platforms. For example, Nier: Automata launched exclusively on PS4 but it later arrived on Xbox One. Something similar can be expected to happen with FF7 Remake.

Until that happens, we do know that the game will release on March 3, 2020, for PS4. The game has been in production for years and was first showcased during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference.

Interested players can now pre-order Final Fantasy 7 Remake Collector’s Edition, which is exclusively available from Square Enix’s Online Store.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Collector’s Edition includes the following items.

  • Play Arts Kai Cloud Strife and Hardy Daytona statue
  • Art book
  • Mini-Soundtrack CD
  • Steelbook case
  • Cactuar Summon Materia DLC (digital)
  • Carbuncle Summon Materia DLC (digital)
  • Chocobo Chick

Furthermore, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently confirmed that the game is not a PS4 exclusive. Matsuda said that the game is being developed as a cross-generation title. It means that the game’s next chapter will most likely on Sony PlayStation 5.

Keeping the above rumor in mind, we can expect the next chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake to also arrive on Xbox Scarlett.

We will make sure to let you guys know first when Microsoft officially confirms Final Fantasy 7 Remake Xbox One release so stay tuned.
