This news about the next Yakuza game was shared during the recent press conference held by Ryugaga Gotoku Studio. Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi has promised that more information about the next Yakuza game will be shared on August 29.
Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all that was shared about the game today. There’s very little that we know about Yakuza 7.
The new Yakuza game was announced back in 2017 with a trailer starring Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza Online. Yakuza series fans can check out the trailer below.
As we reported before, it’s expected that we will see Kazuma Kiryu once again in the next Yakuza game. For those who don’t know, Kazuma Kiryu is a very famous protagonist who has appeared in various Yakuza games. The last time we saw Kazuma Kiryu was in Yakuza 6.
In a recent interview, Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato was asked about the return of Kiryu in the next game. Sato replied by saying that he cannot answer the question at this time. The lack of yes or no by Sato suggests that Kiryu may return in the upcoming Yakuza game. However, don’t expect to play as Kiryu in the next game. It’s possible that we get to see Kiryu in cinematics of the game only.
As for the things confirmed, we do know that Yakuza 7 is in development by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio exclusively for PlayStation 4 console. There’s no word on the Yakuza 7 release date yet. If we have to guess, the new Yakuza game will arrive on both Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Until that happens, Yakuza series fans have Judgment to try on PS4, which is another game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Judgment video game is currently available in Japan only but it is scheduled to release worldwide on July 25.
With that said, now we have to wait until August 29, 2019, to know more about Yakuza 7.
