Marvel’s Avengers video game will feature side-missions with bonuses, according to Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamics co-founder Scot Amos recently sat down with VentureBeat to discuss side missions of the game and their importance.
Scot Amos revealed that Marvel’s Avengers side missions will provide some benefits to players. We can guess these benefits to be costumes, gear items, and some extra points.
However, do note that side missions are optional and skippable in the game. In addition to this, players will be able to replay these side missions anytime after finishing the game’s main story.
Here’s what Amos said:
There are missions that you definitely want to go through because there are certain — how should I put it? — benefits you get only if you go through that particular arc, but it’s completely optional. You can say no, I’m going to go through the main campaign, I’m going to get the story done, I’m going to go through these areas. And then you can go back and replay any of that stuff whenever you want to.
Avengers game side missions will have their own story, new questlines, and objectives. These side missions can be unlocked by progressing through the game’s story. However, do keep in mind that some of the side missions in the game are specially designed for co-op play. So grab a friend to earn bonuses and have some fun together when the game releases next year.
Unfortunately, players will not be able to play as the same character as other players in the party when playing online co-op. That’s because Crystal Dynamics wants players to use different skills and talents in order to form a perfect Avengers team.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are trying their best to make the game a fun experience for both single-player fans and those gamers who like to play online missions and complete side missions to earn extra bonuses.
As for the things confirmed, the game will feature character customization including skins and other cosmetics. In addition to this, the game will have microtransactions at launch. However, the good news is that these microtransactions will not affect gameplay.
