CD Projekt Red have confirmed the Cyberpunk 2077 release date for May next year. Until we reach that date, hype will continue to generate of course. This means PR is underway, and the most recent one is in the form of a cosplay competition.
Here’s the announcement for the competition on the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter. The catch? Cosplaying V:
V is candid and straightforward — when they have a question, they ask it, when they have an opinion, they voice it, no matter the consequences.

In case you didn’t know already, V is the protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077. While they can look however the player wants due to customization, the standard template is being used in the competition.
V isn’t the only character you have to cosplay. The only rule of the competition is that it has to be a character from Cyberpunk 2077. Bonus points lie in blowing everybody’s minds. The only character with an official cosplay guide is V. Both the male and female variants that we’ve seen in past trailers.
Here’s the catch for participating in this competition. There is a $40,000 prize pool for the finalists of the competition.
3rd place will get $5000 along with a free copy of the Cyberpunk 2077 collector’s edition. They will also get merchandise and a trophy. Second place gets $10,000. The rest is the same as 3rd but with a 2nd place trophy of course. Finally, first place wins $15,000. They get the same as the other two BUT will also be featured in a Cyberpunk 2077 magazine cover. A professional photoshoot basically.
You can also get up to $2000 for participating and passing at least one qualifier stage. Signing up and participating in the event can be done live on stage or online.
Online submissions can be made at the official competition website. The deadline is set for November 30th so you’ve got a few months to prepare. If you’d like to participate on stage and be called Breathtaking, you can attend any of these events:
Gamescom (Cologne, Germany)
PAX West (Seattle, USA)
Aug. 31-Sep. 3
Tokyo Game Show, Tokyo, Japan
Igromir (Moscow, Russia)
Paris Games Week (Paris, France)
Oct. 30-Nov. 3
A great opportunity for cosplayers to get recognition, make money and get a free collector’s edition. Sign-up now and let the dress up begin!
