Super Mario Maker 2 Sales Are Double The Previous Game’s In Physical Copies

If you liked the original Super Mario Maker when that game came out on the Wii U in 2015, then you’ve probably already contributed to Super Mario Maker 2 sales since the game has been out for less than a week. Physical sales of the game are already double the original’s.

The Mario Maker games give every Mario fan an opportunity to do what they’ve always dreamed of; create a Mario level of your very own. Whether it’s a maze, a classic Mario level, or a brutally hard obstacle course that wouldn’t look out of place in Dark Souls, Super Mario Maker has proven itself to be a great concept.

We don’t know exactly how many digital sales happened with the game (since a lot of sales-trackers don’t actually keep track of digital sales), but doubling the amount of physical copies sold by your predecessor in less than a week is a great achievement.

While the original Mario Maker game already had a lot of stuff you could do, creating a wide range of levels with a wide variety of Mario artstyles, Super Mario Maker 2 offered even more for players to be able to do with their levels.

These included new obstacles, new enemies, and new ways to make all sorts of different levels for you to post online and challenge others that decide to download your level. All of this has contributed into yet another smash hit for Nintendo.

The Super Mario Maker 2 sales are so good, in fact, that the game has shot up to the very top of the United Kingdom’s bestseller list, dethroning Crash Team Racing, which had previously taken the Number One spot.

Also on the list are F1 2019, Judgment, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and more. Interestingly enough, while some of these games have just come out, others like Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have reappeared due to clever marketing by Nintendo.
