The Sinking City Skills and Skill Trees Guide – Knowledge Points Farming, Best Skills

Skills in The Sinking City will help you gain an advantage in the game. To unlock the skills in the game, you first need to have Knowledge Points. Knowledge Points are the currency you need in order to unlock skills.

To gain Knowledge Points, you need to have gain XP. The game allows you to gain XP in a few different ways. Each time you gain XP and level up, you will gain Knowledge Points.

The Sinking City Skills

The first and the most straightforward way to gain XP is to complete your cases. Completing them will reward you with a lot of XP. Another way is to kill the monsters.

You can also gain XP if you visit all the locations on your map. Visiting these locations, like you the locations where you have your cases or the infested areas, will help you in gaining your XP. Regardless of what skill you unlock, it is eventually going to cost you only one Knowledge Point.

However, you cannot unlock the best skills right away! To unlock a skill down in the tree, first, you need to unlock the one above it.

Three skill trees in the game provide you with different skills depending on the tree you are unlocking it from. The skill trees include:

  1. Combat Proficiency Skill Tree
  2. Vigor Skill Tree
  3. Mind Skill Tree

Combat Proficiency Skills

Skills Effects
Ankle Bitter The traps that you set for your enemies hold them for a longer time.
Trapper The traps for your enemies are set in less time.
Hardboiled Detective The damage done by pistol is doubled.
Trench Sweeper The skill improves the spread of the shotgun and the damage done by it.
Nimble Fingers The reloading time of your revolver decreases.
Firm Grip The accuracy of your Submachine Gun increases.
Sharpshooter The damage done with your rifle doubles.
Leg Cutter Leg Cutter sharpens the blades of the traps of your enemy that increases the damage done by the traps.
Sapper Charge This skill increases the range of the Grenades and bombs so they can damage the far away enemies easily as well.

Vigor Skills

Skills Effects
Furtive Lurker The skill decreases the damage you deal if you fall from somewhere high like a cliff.
Bottomless Packets Increases the magazine size of your shotgun to carry 4 more rounds.
Deep Pockets Increases the magazine of your revolver to carry 6 more rounds.
Extra Clip Increases the magazine size of your pistols to carry 7 rounds.
Abnormal Endurance Increases your Vitality than normal.
Eldritch Endurance More increase in your Vitality than due to Abnormal Endurance.
Indigestible Man-eating eels deal half the normal damage to you while swimming.
Unnatural Recovery You start to slowly regenerate a limited amount of health when close to death.
Lightning Bruiser Your melee attack speed is increased.
Field Medic Carry 1 additional First Aid Kit and Antipsychotic.

Mind Skills

Skills Effects
Absolute Clarity You earn more experience and stay calm for long.
No Charity You have a 50% chance to gain double quest reward items on completing cases.
Smart Packing You can now carry up to 25 pieces of any crafting material.
Crafting Efficiency: Explosives You have a 15% chance to save materials when crafting any explosives.
Crafting Efficiency: Supplies This skill gives you a 15% change to save materials when crafting First Aid Kits, Sanity Kits, and Traps.
Effulgent Mind You are able to stay sane longer than any ordinary human.
Deductive Method You gain more experience from sources.
Master Survivalist 10% chance to save materials when crafting any item.

These skills will help you a lot in your cases but some of these are just not worth the Knowledge Points.

As you can tell from above that earning Knowledge Points is not as easier as it looks so when you have to use them, you should be sure that the skills you are buying should benefit you.

You should buy some skills first. These skills give you major support in completing your cases. These skills include:

Best Skills Effects
Field Medic Carry 1 additional First Aid Kit and Antipsychotic. Keeping both the extras will help you with your health and sanity.
Extra Clip Increases the magazine size of your pistols to carry 7 rounds. Trust me that you will need more ammo when you step further in the game and this skill will help you with that.
Deep Pockets Increases the magazine of your revolver to carry 6 more rounds. Again, the more ammo the better gameplay for you.
Absolute Clarity You earn more experience and stay calm for longer. Leveling up faster will help you in gaining those Knowledge Points faster.
Smart Packing You can now carry up to 25 pieces of any crafting material. You do not want to reach your inventory limit as it will impede you in collecting the loot.
No Charity You have a 50% chance to gain double quest reward items on completing cases. This skill will benefit you the most when you will be rewarded with stuff like ammo or first aid kits.
