Many are hyped up about the soft reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, especially over gameplay for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC and what it’ll look like.
Although no official gameplay has been released yet, Infinity Ward’s art director, Joel Emslie, said the reveal is “almost there”, suggesting that it surely won’t be long until we see the final result. Interestingly enough too, this comment wasn’t made through an official statement, but a comment on a Reddit post on Modern Warfare.
Joel’s comment reads “Almost there….stay on target!” – a short, yet an effective comment, only hyping up fans more for the modern warfare gameplay release. However, the comment in question has since been removed by Reddit for breaching “promotion guidelines”, possibly to keep its progression as a surprise for fans. We are predicting the gameplay reveal to be within this week.
While gameplay was revealed at E3 2019, it was only viewed by industry professionals, so not available for the public. A trailer was revealed, which suggested a more cinematic appeal, giving the franchise a fresh breath of air and something new to work with.
While the 2019 Modern Warfare is ultimately a reboot of the original game, that isn’t to say we’re going to get a complete rehash of the same game released 12 years ago. Rather, it’s reported to be set in the same universe as the original trilogy, but in a different style for a totally new and unique gaming experience.
Modern Warfare is also reported to be more “realistic” than its predecessors, including missions that mimic the notorious “No Russian” level from Modern Warfare 2. The controversial level, if not obvious from the name itself, involved launching a mass shooting at the airport in order to gain the trust of Russian terrorists.
Activision is under a lot of pressure as Call of Duty franchise is becoming stale with every passing year. There are high hopes this year that Modern Warfare will blow some fresh air into the COD franchise or it could go further down the slope.
Even without any official gameplay yet, Modern Warfare is already predicted to be successful this year, as shown by the large number of pre-orders from GameStop.
As of now, we don’t have an official release date for Modern Warfare’s gameplay reveal, with the expected release of the game fast approaching and Joel’s comment, we can’t imagine it’ll be for much longer.
