Will Kazuma Kiryu Return in the next Yakuza Game?

We might end up seeing Kazuma Kiryu once again in the next Yakuza game as hinted by the Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato. For those who don’t know, the next Yakuza game is in development and will have a new protagonist named Ichiban Kasuga.

During a recent interview, Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato was asked about whether Kazuma Kiryu (the protagonist of previous Yakuza games) would return. In reply, Sato said, “At this time, that is not a question I can answer”.

There wasn’t a yes or no by Sato which means that we might be rewarded with the presence of Kiryu (voiced by Takaya Kuroda) one more time in the next Yakuza game. It’s possible that we will see Kiryu in one of the cutscenes of the upcoming game or even get to play as him if we are lucky enough. We can do nothing but speculate at the moment. To find out, we will have to wait.

Apart from Kiryu, Sato confirmed that we will know more about the upcoming Yakuza game soon.

On July 10, we will announce the supporting actress for the new title, as well as share the latest information on the new title, so please look forward to it.

Now that is great news for Yakuza series fans. We haven’t heard much about the game since its announcement. The new Yakuza game was announced back in 2017 with a trailer showing that the game will star Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza Online (a Japan exclusive card game). Interested folks can check out the announcement trailer for new Yakuza game below.

The next Yakuza title starring Ichiban Kasuga is in development by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio exclusively for PlayStation 4. We can expect the game to arrive sometime next year before the release of Sony’s PlayStation 5. The next Yakuza title (Yakuza 7) can also turn out to be a cross-generation title.

In the meantime, players can play Judgement, from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio which is available in Japan and scheduled to release worldwide tomorrow on July 25 for PS4.

Judgment is also published by Sega and set in the Yakuza world of Kamurocho. The game stars Japanese actor Takuya Kimura and has a fighting system similar to Yakuza 0, allowing players to choose between different fighting styles like crane-style and tiger-style. There’s also a demo of Judgement available via PlayStation Store.

On July 10, we are expecting to receive a new trailer of the next Yakuza game focused on detailing characters and gameplay. A release date reveal of the game on July 10 also seems very likely.
