Rumors have started to abound that a Remedy Entertainment and Sony collaboration is coming soon, hinting at a new game from the creators of Alan Wake and Quantum Break. While we don’t know if it’s true or not, a new Remedy game is always welcome if it’s as good as the others.
The leak came from a number of different tweets on Twitter, including one from Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. In addition to visiting Remedy’s studios in Helsinki, in Finland, to try out Control, Yoshida also visited the studios for Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games.
Remedy Entertainment does have a new game coming out soon, called “Control”, but the rumors of the Remedy Entertainment and Sony collaboration might point to a new game already being in the works. Naughty Dog and Insomniac being visited might also point to something.
Of course, this whole thing is just a rumor so far. Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog have been two of Playstation’s golden studios for a while after Insomniac released Spider-Man and considering Naughty Dog’s track record with Uncharted and The Last Of Us.
However, Remedy’s games are always multiplatform, and while they are rather prolific there’s no telling what interest Sony has in them. The Remedy Entertainment and Sony collaboration in the rumors might be referring to the company making a Playstation-exclusive game sometime in the future.
Of course, this is again, all rumors so far. While we might hear something about a collaboration in the future, until we know more or get an official statement from Remedy Entertainment or Sony, whether at Gamescom, the Game Awards, next year’s E3, or some other big gaming event, we can’t really know.
In the meantime, if you want to play Remedy Entertainment’s new game Control, the game will be out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on August 27.
