Call of Duty Modern Warfare Gameplay Features Authentic Bullet-Drop

With the announcement of the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019, Infinity Ward takes us back. It’s not a completely nostalgic revisit though. Infinity Ward has created a gritty and realistic take of Modern Warfare. And features like bullet drops are added for more realistic combat.

This is part of the marketing that pushes the Call of Duty Modern Warfare game as realistic. The original Call of Duty video games also had a vibe of realism to them. Still, the games were counted as arcade shooters. This addition of realistic gunplay may change the classification.

People have mixed reactions to this Call of Duty Modern Warfare news. Comparisons to DICE’s Battlefield series are being made often. The Battlefield series has had the bullet drop mechanic for a long time due to the size of their maps.

What’s not confirmed about the gunplay in the upcoming CoD is whether the Call of Duty Modern Warfare multiplayer will also have bullet drop. One possibility is that the mechanic is only present in certain campaign scenarios. There was a mission in the original Modern Warfare where players had to take wind and bullet drop into account. It may also be included in the various other game modes.

Considering the fast-paced arcade shooter style, would this addition fit in? It’s hard to gauge bullet drop in closed corridor-like environments. If anyone remembers how the Call of Duty Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay worked, they’ll know that it doesn’t. The game constantly has you sprinting around and fighting in close quarters engagements.

Then again, Call of Duty has maintained the exact same style for over a decade. If anything, the franchise has gotten notorious for milking its features like Nuketown and zombies. Infinity Ward is trying to set itself away from the trend. This is why Call of Duty Modern Warfare will incorporate new elements.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare releases on October 25th, 2019. It will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
