The Last of Us 2 release date is set for February 2020 as teased by the voice actress of protagonist Ellie. Ellie’s voice actress Ashley Johnson revealed The Last of Us part 2 release date in an interview with Critical Role.
During the interview, Ashley Johnson was asked about when is The Last of Us Part 2 coming out. Johnson replied to the question by saying “Uh, I think it’s coming out Feb-” but then she is cut off by the host.
It’s possible that she was joking but a February 2020 release date sounds reasonable. A February 2020 release date for The Last of Us 2 also aligns with previous different reports.
For example, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier previously said that The Last of Us 2 release date has been delayed to early 2020.
Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release. The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4 https://t.co/wh6kimA73b

Meanwhile, industry insider ZhugeEX has confirmed February 2020 as the internal release date for TLOU 2 at Naughty Dog. However, internal means that the release date for the upcoming is not final yet. It can change to any other date. Keeping that in mind, it’s better to treat all of the provided information as a rumor for now until Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog confirm anything.
With the launch of PS5 expected to be at the end of 2020, it’s safe to assume that The Last of Us 2 will release sometime in the beginning of next year.
In case you don’t remember, The Last of Us first launched on PlayStation 3 before releasing on PlayStation 4. That way, The Last of Us sequel will first release on PlayStation 4 and later on PlayStation 5 with improved graphics and load times, etc.
The Last of Us 2 can be expected to be one of the launch titles for PS5. Sony will make sure to show the power of next-generation PlayStation console with Naughty Dog’s graphics intensive game. We can do nothing but speculate at the moment.
There’s not much that we know about The Last of Us sequel except for the fact that we will be playing as Ellie, who will be joined by an AI companion at some point in the game. The upcoming game will feature multiplay mode like the first entry in The Last of Us series.
Interested folks can expect to hear about the official release date for The Last of Us 2 at PlayStation Experience, which is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
