Banjo-Kazooie Switch Port Rumored To Be In The Making, Says Amazon Germany

Amazon Germany has apparently leaked a listing that confirms that a Banjo-Kazooie Switch port is in the making. While there hasn’t been any official announcement from Rare, Microsoft, or Nintendo, it would be a good way to cap off the pair’s entry back into the spotlight after what happened Monday.

Monday was the day that Nintendo announced that Banjo and Kazooie would be one of the two new fighters coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate after years out of the spotlight. Alongside four of the protagonists from the Dragon Quest series, Banjo and Kazooie would finally be joining the Smash family.

It wouldn’t be that out of place for a Banjo-Kazooie Switch port. After all, the series was first launched on the Nintendo 64. While everyone’s favorite bear and bird have lost their luster over the past few years, especially with the failure of Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Smash might be the gateway to a resurgence.

Banjo-Kazooie got remastered for the Xbox 360 in 2008, and made it onto the Rare Replay disc back in 2015. However, the rumored Banjo-Kazooie Switch port could end up as a complete remaster or remake, with current-gen graphics that go far beyond just remastering the game.

The rumored Nintendo Switch port could also extend to being an entirely new Banjo-Kazooie game, though that seems implausible for now without confirmation. Amazon Germany has said that the Banjo-Kazooie port only has Banjo-Kazooie as its “working title”, so whether it’s a straight up remake or an entirely new game remains to be seen.

Collect-a-thon platformers have fallen somewhat out of favor these days, even though a sequel to Yooka-Laylee is currently in development and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Edition and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy won critical acclaim and massive sales.

While a Banjo-Kazooie remaster on the Switch might have similar fortunes, there’s no telling where the series could go in the aftermath of Banjo and Kazooie coming to Super Smash Bros.
