The Witcher 3 Switch vs PS4 Graphics Comparison: A Watered Down Witcher Experience

The rumors were true and CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch. Those of you who didn’t notice how much the game has been downgraded for Switch, here is a The Witcher 3 Nintendo Switch vs PS4 graphics comparison.

Looking at the game announcement trailer, it didn’t require any comparison to realize how much the Witcher 3 has been visually downgraded to make it playable on Nintendo Switch.

You can see The Witcher 3 Nintendo Switch vs PS4 graphics comparison is the video below, courtesy of Cycu1. At a glance, it’s apparent how much of a graphical downgraded the Switch version of The Witcher 3 is.

The draw distance is reduced for the Switch and seems like the hybrid console will be using the lowest texture quality. Geometric detail is also reduced and the ambient occlusion is non-existent in the Switch version which makes sense since it’s one of the most taxing graphical settings.

Furthermore, the Switch looks to be using the lowest quality for its texture filtering. We also see a noticeable reduction in the post-processing effects quality too.

From this Witcher 3 Nintendo Switch vs PS4 graphics comparison, it’s clear how much the game has been downgraded. But given Nintendo Switch’s specs, it’s necessary for the developers to reduce the game’s graphical quality.

However, there are other titles like Doom 2016 and Wolfenstein which were ported to Switch and didn’t feature graphical downgrade to this extent. Also, the game is currently being worked on so there is a possibility that by the time of its release, the game will look a bit better.

The Witcher 3 isn’t the only game announced by Nintendo for Switch during its E3 2019 conference. Nintendo also announced the Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel with a teaser trailer.

Not only that, Nintendo also showcased new gameplay features for Luigiā€™s Mansion 3. This time around Luigi’s Poltergust G-00 is equipped with new featured like Slam, Suction Shot, Burst, and the most interesting one “Gooigi”.

Gooigi is basically Luigi’s double made up of goo which opens up new gameplay opportunities. Also, Gooigi serves as a coop partner if you hand over your Joycon controller to a friend.

The Witcher 3 is an open-world action adventure RPG developed by CD Projekt Red for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
