With only hours left until the E3 2019 EA Play starts, EA sports has just introduced a street mode in FIFA 20 called VOLTA Football with a marketing tagline “The stadium is anywhere.”
A few days ago EA SPORTS FIFA posted a short teaser for FIFA 20 on its Twitter page, the teaser featured a V symbol which got fans hyped and speculating about what it could mean.

EA SPORTS has finally announced what it really is. According to EA’s own website:
VOLTA – meaning ‘to return’ in Portuguese. Get ready to Break New Ground in EA SPORTS™ VOLTA Football when FIFA 20 launches September 27 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Giving you an authentic street football experience, VOLTA Football provides you with the tools to express yourself both on and off the court.
Basically, it is very much a FIFA Street mode for FIFA 20. VOLTA Football lets you play 3 v 3 Rush (without goalkeepers), 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5 and Professional Futsal in a variety of locations.
VOLTA Football will feature different sizes of arenas and environments. These arenas will be with and without walls for players to play in. Some of the environments include an underpass in Amsterdam, a neighborhood cage in London, and a Tokyo rooftop as shown in the VOLTA Football reveal trailer.
Express your style in VOLTA with a custom-built gameplay system grounded in football realism. Inspired by the authentic small-sided form of football played in streets, cages, and futsal courts across the world; VOLTA gameplay immerses you in the flow of the street with new tools including simplified flicks and skill moves, new flair animations, and even the option to use the wall to your advantage.
Players will also be able to build up their squad, play the Volta story mode with a customized avatar, play through promotion and relegation in the online Volta League, or simply use a pro team in Volta Kick-Off.
“VOLTA Football gives you countless ways to customize and personalize your player. From how they dress, to their hairstyle and tattoos, and new celebratory emotes, create your male or female player and showcase them across the various game modes in VOLTA Football.”
The street mode Volta Football mode will only be available in the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 20. There will also be a Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 20 which is described as a “Legacy Edition”. The Legacy Edition will be similar to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of FIFA 19 Legacy Editions.
Another interesting thing to note is that EA has also constructed a 5 v 5 football arena right outside of the EA Play convention in LA. This could be for promoting VOLTA Football in FIFA 20.
You can Pre-order the FIFA 20 Champions or Ultimate Edition now to play VOLTA Football three days early ahead of the global launch. FIFA 20 launches worldwide on September 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
