Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Gameplay Is a Mix of Uncharted and Dark Souls

The biggest gaming week of the year has officially kicked off with EA PLAY and to start things on the right foot, Respawn Entertainment has shared the first Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order gameplay trailer at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019.

The 15-minute long gameplay trailer gives an in-depth look at the single player Star Wars game featuring new characters, storyline, and from the looks of it, really interesting gameplay mechanics.

The gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order takes place 3-hours into the game where our lead character is still trying to figure out his abilities. The game is running on an Xbox One X and EA made is clear that this is alpha gameplay footage.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Gameplay Trailer – Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019

The Empire won’t stop until every Jedi is purged from the galaxy. As a young Padawan on the run, the odds are against you—but the Force is with you. Discover the Jedi abilities you must master to survive.

We are visiting the Wookie home planet where the Wookie are enslaved by the Empire.

It wouldn’t be a Star Wars without Stormtroopers but as expected, they can’t aim even if their life depended on it which in this case literally did. What’s kind of hilarious is that EA and Respawn Entertainment couldn’t help but add wall-running to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order gameplay.

Amazing wall-running is somewhat of a trademark of Titanfall games so it is a nice touch to see it in Jedi Fallen Order. Here’s a quick summary of what gameplay elements we came to know from the gameplay reveal trailer.

  • Wall-running and climbing similar to Uncharted games
  • Lightsaber battles and force combat
  • Dark Souls like lock-on
  • Boss Battles
  • Double Jump
  • Slow Down Time using the force
  • Use force to solve puzzles and navigate to hard to reach locations

There isn’t much we know about the story itself but we do know that it is set after the events of Star Wars Episode 3. The Empire has executed Order 66 and most of the Jedi are killed, those alive are hunted down. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order gameplay also features “optional” multiplayer mode but nothing about online is discussed at EA PLAY.

However, EA confirmed there is more Star Wars content planned for Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference tomorrow.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this Fall. The official Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order release date is November 16, 2019. Considering how big of a franchise this is, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Jedi Fallen Order on Google Stadia.
