Google held its E3 2019 Stadia presentation on June 6th. During its press conference and Stadia Connect live stream, it unveiled new games and shed light on its game streaming service. Google confirmed Stadia will be able to support cross-save, 720p to 4K at 60 FPS depending on your connection, along with Stadia Pro and Founder’s Edition.
Google also revealed a ton of games, including Baldur’s Gate III, Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep DLC, and the highly anticipated Borderlands 3. Google also confirmed that Rockstar Games will also support Google Stadia with its lineup of games.
After Google announced the game streaming service a few months back, gamers have been itching to know how Stadia will work, what games Google Stadia will have, and when they will be able to get their hands on it. Google finally revealed new games and a ton of key details about Stadia during its E3 2019 conference.
Google also aired its presentation on Google Stadia’s own YouTube channel, so if you missed the conference, you can catch it here.
During its press reveal Google announced over 30 Stadia games that will be available once it launches. One of those games is Borderlands 3, which was officially announced a few months back for consoles and PC.
Borderlands 3 is the third installment in the Borderlands series, a sequel to Borderlands 2, with a release date set for September 2019. Borderlands 3 will release on Xbox One, PC, and PS4 but now it has been revealed that it will also come out on Google Stadia.
It will be interesting to see how well Gearbox’s Borderlands 3 performs on Google Stadia. Last month, Gearbox’s producer Chris Brock revealed that the Xbox One version of Borderlands 3 will be locked at 30 FPS.
The Xbox One X version of the game will be around 60 FPS, at least that’s what Gearbox is aiming for. Brock also stated that Borderlands 3 will allow options to choose between more resolution and more FPS. Xbox One X version of Borderlands 3 will either have 4K at 30 FPS or 1080p at 60 FPS.
Even though there weren’t any mentions of frame rate and resolution options for the PC, PS4, and PS4 Pro versions of Borderlands 3, it was speculated that it would be around a decent 1080p at 30 FPS.
During Google’s E3 2019 press conference, Google’s Vice President Phil Harrison gave performance specifics regarding Stadia. According to Harrison, even between a 5 MBPS to 35 MBPS connection, the Stadia will be able to handle a stable stream at 60 FPS. Google Stadia is also said to be “democratic” in the sense that it provides players with a lot of choices on how they want to play their games. So if Borderlands 3’s PC ports can support a 4K resolution at 60 FPS, it is highly likely Borderlands 3 will support 60 FPS on Google Stadia.
Borderlands 3, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, releases for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Epic Store for PC on 13 September 2019. Borderlands 3 will also release on Google Stadia once it launches.
